Now THAT's a Community Church

Georgia church selling its nearly paid-off property and using the profits to help the needy in its community. - Ministry Today

This church gets the big picture. I hope that others follow.

Acts 17:24 (New King James Version)
"God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands."

1 Corinthians 6:19 (New King James Version)
" Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?"

Galatians 5:13-26 (New American Standard Bible)

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF." But if you bite and devour one another, take care that you are not consumed by one another. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh. For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the Law. Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

Matthew 12:1-8 (NKJV)

1 At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. And His disciples were hungry, and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. 2 And when the Pharisees saw it, they said to Him, “Look, Your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath!”3 But He said to them, “Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, he and those who were with him: 4 how he entered the house of God and ate the showbread which was not lawful for him to eat, nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? 5 Or have you not read in the law that on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are blameless? 6 Yet I say to you that in this place there is One greater than the temple. 7 But if you had known what this means, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice," you would not have condemned the guiltless. 8 For the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath.”

Blessed Are The Innovators

George Washington Carver viewed faith in Jesus as a means to destroying both barriers of racial disharmony and social stratification. He taught his students that knowledge of God through the Bible and devotion to Jesus was paramount over what he could teach them through numbers and formulas. He compiled a list of Eight Cardinal Virtues for his students to emulate and strive toward…

George Washington Carver's Eight Cardinal Virtues:
1. Be clean both inside and out.
2. Neither look up to the rich nor down on the poor.
3. Lose, if need be, without squealing.
4. Win without bragging.
5. Always be considerate of women, children, and older people.
6. Be too brave to lie.
7. Be too generous to cheat.
8. Take your share of the world and let others take theirs.
From a letter to the senior class he taught, dated Jan. 9, 1922.

Eight Beatitudes:
Matthew 5:3-10 describes Jesus' famous Sermon on the Mount, which contained what are known as the Beatitudes. Jesus said:

1. Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
2. Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
3. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the land.
4. Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
5. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
6. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God.
7. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.
8. Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
